Meet Your Global Neighbors: Week Two!

We received a lot of positive feedback after last week’s post so we want to continue the fun!

Our partners have been so gracious to share recipes, activities and glimpses into the daily lives of their students. Now more than ever we are reminded that we are more alike than we are different and we feel certain that we are going to get through this time together, as a global community!

Below are this week’s activities for our friends and family around the globe. As you move through these activities please share photos and videos using the hashtag #TFEathome. You can also email them to us (info@tailoredforeducation.flywheelstaging.com) or comment on our social media pages.

We hope this will provide you and your loved ones with some fun learning experiences during this unprecedented time. We are thinking of all of you and are grateful for each and every one of you!

Stay healthy and stay positive!

For Everyone:

  • Country spotlight: learn more about the first country we provided uniform support to – Haiti! Bonus points if you can get outside and play their national sport!
  • TFE themed Crossword Puzzle
  • Ebook: Our amazing friends at Akili Girls’ Preparatory School in Kisumu, Kenya have written and published digital books on various aspects of life in Kenya!  We visited these talented young women last May and are so thrilled to share their work with you. Our first featured author is Pheny, with Houses in Kenya.

Meet the Author

Pheny is 11 years old. Her favorite class is science and she hopes to be a nurse when she grows up. Her hero is her mother and when she wears her school uniform Pheny knows that she looks smart and neat and can improve her education. We are so grateful that Phney was willing to share her book with us!

Book Recommendation for Teens and Adults:

Our book club has gained momentum so this week we have another recommendation for you: Thirst: A Story of Redemption, Compassion, and a Mission to Bring Clean Water to the World. Written by Scott Harrison, Founder and CEO of charity: water, Thirst is an inspirational story detailing Scott’s mission to reinvent philanthropy.  We have long admired charity: water and continually use them as a resource as we expand Tailored for Education.  In January we were fortunate to meet Scott and various members of the charity: water team and felt like sponges walking through their office, absorbing everything we could. Scott and his team continue to be role models to us and you will see why after reading Thirst! Available in all formats on Amazon, 100% of net proceeds go toward funding their water projects.

Family Activity: pull out your aprons!

David Bueno, founder of the Steven Foundation and our Project Coordinator in El Salvador, has shared his favorite recipe with us! Safely head to the market and pick up the necessary ingredients for ‘Teresa’s Rellenos de Guisquil’
